The daily dose of terror

Newspapers today don’t have much to write about and scare us with. In ancient time, when we had war it was easy for journalist to find something to write about. But not today.
So, what to do? Let’s scare people with the environmental threat! The glacier ice is melting, the pollution will kill our children, the consumption is bad, meat is bad, you are bad!!!
The fact is that the earth is going through a natural environmental change. The anent Neanderthal didn’t drive around in big Jeeps, and still…the polar ice managed to melt. In fact, you could actually grow grapes in the cold Sweden in 13th century.
So continue to consume, it will save people more than killing them.

Diana,
I think you underplay the dammage that global warming will have on our planet. While being scared or emotional about it is not the best response, having the government take action to tax carbon emissions or set aside wilderness free from human development is a reasonable response. After all, we do not want the entire world to look like a Texas city. That would be something to fear.

What an amazing observation, you should get the Nobel prize for that. People like you should not be allowed to live on this planet. People like you damage the planet. consumption is bad for the environment.

Regarding the point by anonymous, I will say that at least Diana is honest about her consumption even if she dismisses the dammage it will cause. Most left wing people I know on the whole end up consuming almost as much as the conservatives, they just do little things like recycle bottles to make themselves feel good about themselves. Diana's true environmental impact is relatively low, especially coming from Sweden whatever her attitude. According to your standard therefore, I would guess that you deserve to live less than she.

Anonymous and Pace,

I have to say that I find the comment by anonymous a bit creepy. first of all, as Pace wrote in the first comment, the way to effect people is not by scaring people.

I recycle and separate garbage because it's easy and someone else has done it, but I know that it doesn't make the world better.

I just want to write that COMMON SENSE is the most important thing. Just use the *drums, here comes the magic word* COMMON SENSE and you won't damage the planet or anything.

For instance. Here in Japan, when you buy mayonnaise, they sell it in small plastic packages, packed singel, and then in one huge package and then at the store in another bag. HOW STUPID ISN'T THAT!

or when you buy tooth paste. first it's packed in a plastic bag and then it's packed in a box. plese, chill out. Makes NO sense at all...

I Care about the environment, I just think that they exaggerate the whole threat.

It is people like this asshole anonymous that make me use my alias Pace, on the blog sphere rather than using my real name. There are a lot of disturbed people out there and I do not want them to investigate my entire life just because I like to share my ideas.

Saying that Diana does not deserve to live is extremely rude if not outright threatening. Whoever you are, you are smart to stay anonymous.
